Fifty-one years at Ladies Beach, under the same pine tree. The garden Hasan Yarmacı opened on 26 June 1975 is now in the hands of his daughter, Pelin Yarmacı.
In 1975 he did something nobody in Kuşadası had done: he set tables in a garden facing the sea. What he opened is remembered as the area's first cafe-bar restaurant.
That arrangement under the pine — where the tables sit, how the view is framed, the way a guest is welcomed — is still the arrangement he made. Everyone who sits at those tables today sits in the garden he built.
The opening licence has been kept for fifty-one years and is on display in the restaurant.
Hasan Yarmacı under the tree. The building behind him is still going up.
The first tiled-roof building on the slope, facing the sea. A print of the period, deckled edges and all.
The opening licence. Hasan Yarmacı's own passport photograph is stamped onto the document.
"In our district, at Seçkin Sitesi, Ladies Beach … upon the application of Hasan Yarmacı … there being no objection to this place opening as a Cafe, the opening licence fee of 640.00 TL having been collected by receipt no. 29608 dated 26.6.1975, this opening licence is hereby issued pursuant to Article 15 of Law no. 1580." What he loved most was solving crosswords. In this frame he is doing exactly that — same table, same shade, every day.
Hasan Yarmacı greeted his guests himself; he knew which dish went to which table. His daughter does the same work today — the plate reaches the table from Pelin's own hand, and she looks after the room herself.
A great deal has changed in the garden in fifty-one years. What has not changed is that a guest is welcomed by someone from this family.
Welcome to a family legacy, a journey of flavour and a table hidden in the heart of nature…
I am Pelin Yarmacı. When I welcome you at Seçkin Saklı Bahçe today, I know that I represent not merely a restaurant, but a philosophy of living, a family legacy and a deep respect for this soil.
The place my father Hasan Yarmacı opened in Kuşadası in 1975 is remembered as the area's first cafe-bar restaurant. Over the years it grew into a living space that blended the warm line of Aegean cooking with the calm of the sea and the generosity of nature. Today, as the second generation, I carry this precious legacy into the future with my own eye and with the inspiration I draw from the past.
At Seçkin Saklı Bahçe every plate is prepared simply but with great care. The finest examples of Aegean and Turkish cuisine are served without compromising naturalness or simplicity, in a way that stays in the memory. Because we are not only preparing food here — we are preparing a moment. Every table is an invitation: to conversation, to friendship, to sharing…
Facing the sea, with birdsong and a light breeze, the rhythm of the day slows a little in our green garden. To music that runs from jazz to acoustic, conversations deepen, plates are prepared with love, and moments become precious.
To sit down at a table together here is to share the beauty of life. Your place at this table is always set. Wishing you fine moments and beautiful memories…
— Pelin Yarmacı
Hasan Yarmacı's three daughters — Pelin, Fulin and Selin — grew up in this garden, under the same pine tree. Pelin runs it today; her sisters are part of this table too.
The third generation is growing up with the same view. Those who came here as children with their parents now sit at the same tables with their own children — in this garden, the change of generations is the guests' story as well.
In a garden of fifty-one years, your place is set — from breakfast to sunset.
